CAT CARTOONS
We all love cartoons, in particular cat cartoons. Cat
cartoons have always been popular and have made us laugh over many
years. Here are some of our favorite characters.
Azrael
Azrael is a cartoon cat that appeared in the 1980's cartoon 'The
smurfs'. Gargamel, Azrael's master, was always trying to catch the
smurfs to use them in his potion to make gold. Azrael wanted the
smurfs for a snack. The Smurfs was first created by Peyo Culliford
in 1957. The first screened eposide was shown on the 12 September
1981.
Binka
Binka is a pre-school children's programme, which can be seen on the
BBC. Binka is a very large furry cat, who is one quarter persian
prince and three quarters greedy. Binka lives between three homes.
His friends include Tango the puppy, Suki who he likes alot and spit
who he doesn't like.
Felix the Cat
Felix the Cat, created by Otto Messmer, first made his debut in 1919
in a short film called 'Feline Follies'. Soon after Felix made
transition to print. In 1960 Felix appeared in 260 new series and
since then has been on television and print. In the 80's Don Oriolio
wrote and produced the feature film Felix the Cat Movie. Felix the
cat's most recent show is known as 'The twisted tales of Felix the
cat'.
Garfield
Garfield can be described as a fat and lazy cat that lives with Odie
the dog and owned by Jon Arckbuckle. Garfield is created by Jim
Davis and made its first appearance in 1978. Since then Garfield has
appeared in newspapers and television.
Itchy and Scratchy
Itchy and Scratchy is a cartoon mouse and cat featured on the Simpsons.
Scratchy, the
cat, and Itchy the mouse partake in violent clashes with one
another, which results in the killing of Scratchy. Not a show for cat lovers!
Krazy Kat
The first cartoon cat was Krazy Kat drawn by George Herriman in 1910.
George worked for Hearst papers. Krazy Kat was later transferred
from paper to screen. In 1921 Krazy Kat appeared in "Krazy Kat and
Ignatz Mouse" where he was in love with Ignatz mouse who threw
bricks at him.
