STRAY CATS
A stray cat is a domestic cat that has been abandoned or has strayed
from home and become lost.
A stray cat may be skittish in your
presence, but because stray cats once knew human companionship, they
can usually be re-socialized and re-homed.
The average life span for a stray cat is three to five years. Eventually they
will die from starvation, disease, dogs, or motor vehicles.
Failure
to prevent or control a stray cat population amounts to inhumane
treatment.
Options for Managing Stray Cats
When you choose to rescue
stray cats, it is important that you contact your local
animal shelter or other similar organization to learn the
local regulations and policies pertaining to your community before
trapping.
The majority of these organizations can be found in the
telephone directory. Please be certain of the course of action you
would like to pursue before rescuing a stray cat.

Do not attempt to
handle captured cats and do not leave children unattended near a
captured cat.
